Spring is here! It’s still a bit frosty in Toronto, to be honest, but we’ve begun restocking our inks, and most of our lines are looking a little healthier. We’ve been keeping busy over here with all the new shipments coming in, and if you’ve visited the shop recently, I’m sure you’ve seen some of our piles of boxes overflowing with peanuts.
With spring comes Mother’s Day, and so I thought I’d share some gift ideas for those of you a little stuck.
These beautiful, hand-sewn MN Davis cases are perfect for your mom’s make-up, writing instruments or other tools. The cotton canvas and zipper enclosure is super strong, and each case has a different lining inside. Great for tucking inside a purse or keeping on a desk. (MN Davis Pen Case $32)
For the mom on the go, the Lamy Safari can’t go wrong – it’s reliable and durable and with a few packs of cartridges (a spring-like turquoise?), it will serve her well. In this year’s Limited Edition Neon Coral, it will also be a breeze to find in her purse. (Lamy Safari $31.50 available in a variety of colours, pack of 5 Lamy cartridges $4.75).
For the mom that’s ready to dive into a new fountain pen, the Platinum Plaisir, a converter and a bottle of ink is a great choice. The converter allows you to use bottled ink, but the pen also comes with a cartridge. Easy to use, looks great and something to serve her well over time. (Platinum Plaisir $22, Platinum converter $7.50, J. Herbin bottled ink $9.75)
For something to do with your mom, how about one of our Introduction to Calligraphy classes? No experience or materials needed – just a fun two hours on a Saturday morning. For $55.00, you get to take home your new calligraphy pen and a workbook. Register online or in-store!
As well, our new neighbours, Saul’s Beauty Shop, has opened up and they look great! They’re just next door to us, so consider treating mom to one of their facials or beauty treatments.
